The basic objective of BCIC is to help to build the national economy through. Extending necessary techno-financial assistance to both local and foreign entrepreneurs and establishing new industries as Joint ventures in Chemical and allied sectors and making optimum use of the natural and human resources of the country.

Introduction to BCIC
Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCI) was established on July 1, 1986, by merging 3 corporations namely Bangladesh Fertilizer, Chemical, and Herbal Industry Corporation, Bangladesh Paper and Board Corporation, and Bangladesh Tanneries Corporation as per the 25th Amendment to the Presidential Ordinance No. 26 of 1972. . The chairman of the company and the directors of the board of directors are appointed by the government. The chairman as chief executive has been given the power to manage the company.

In order to ensure smooth functioning, the Chairman is empowered by the Board of Directors of the Company to delegate powers to the Board of Directors, Secretaries, Heads of Departments, and Heads of Factories. On the basis of this, the concerned officials manage and supervise the overall activities of the companies and industrial establishments. The overall activities of the Corporation are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of a Chairman and 5 Directors appointed by the Government. BCIC Job Circular 2022.

BCIC Job Update 2022

There is a separate enterprise board/company board for each factory. Each enterprise board has a representative from the Ministry of Industry as the director of the board. The managing directors of the respective factories conduct their day-to-day operations under the guidance and supervision of their respective enterprise boards.
The journey of the organization started with 6 institutions inherited. Later 7 new factories were set up by the company and 3 factories were transferred from other companies under the control of BCIC.

As a result of the implementation of the government’s foreign policy, the capital was withdrawn from 85 out of 98 industrial enterprises. 6 factories were handed over to the former owner and 6 institutions were handed over to Muktijoddha Welfare Trust. Manpower has been paid off by closing 5 institutions by government decision. At present, 13 industries are being operated under the control of BCIC and 9 more industries are being operated on the basis of partnership.

BCIC is producing products like fertilizer, cement, paper, glass sheet, hardboard, sanitaryware, and insulators. 80% of the products produced by BCIC are chemical fertilizers. Of this 70% is urea fertilizer and 10% is other fertilizer. It may be recalled that from 1997-to 98, BCIC has been entrusted with the sensitive task of distributing fertilizers among farmers across the country to ensure food security in the country. BCIC is fulfilling this guru duty with utmost diligence and success.
