Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) was established in 1979 under the provisions of the Indian Territorial Force Act 1950 which was replaced by BNCC Act no 46 in the year 2016.

The main function of this organization is to organize and train the selected students of schools, colleges, and universities with the aim of developing their leadership qualities, sense of duty, commitment, dedication, discipline, and moral value so that they become good/useful citizens. The students enrolled under the BNCC Act 2016 are called cadets. Cadets are basically the students of the schools, colleges, and universities where the BNCC activities exist. At present BNCC is organized in mainly five different administrative divisions and in some cases, part of a division. The functional units (Battalion)/subunits (Company/ Platoons) of each administrative division form a regiment of BNCC.

Bangladesh National Cadet Corps has Youth Exchange Programmer (YEP) with India, Singapore, Nepal, Maldives, and Singapore. Every year total of 56 BNCC Cadets get the opportunity to visit those Countries under YEP and an equal no of foreign cadets also visit Bangladesh to join our Independence Day Celebration Programed.

The benefits of this program have been widely acknowledged. By these visits, cadet knows each other’s’ culture, heritage, and which help to develop a strong bond between them.

BNCC is an organization consisting of Defense services officers, junior commissioned officers (JCOs) and Noncommissioned officers (NCOs), civilian officers and staffs, teaching staffs, and students from different educational institutions.
