Bangladesh is a major agricultural country. Agriculture is one of the main sources of national income in this country and is the livelihood of about two-thirds of the people. Therefore, the importance of land resources in this country is immense. Land is one of the basic natural resources which is the main source of supply for human habitation, daily necessities, raw materials in the industry, etc., but due to population growth and unplanned use of land, this important natural resource is declining day by day. With economic progress, the trend of urbanization, the scope of industrialization, and the expansion of roads, hospitals, and educational institutions, the amount of land per capita is gradually shrinking.
The use of these important resources depends largely on proper planning. Therefore, it has become necessary to ensure the best use of these limited natural resources through a timely plan and policy. To this end, the Ministry of Land has already formulated a land-use policy. After the independence of Bangladesh in 1971 through the Great War of Liberation under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a full-fledged ministry was formed to carry out all land-related functions.
